Summer … Time To Do & Time To Play

By Kent Lower

I love this time of year! Summer … when my two-year old and I can go to the neighborhood pool and splish-splash all day long. When my Labrador Retriever can lounge in the shady backyard. When my husband and I can have friends and family over for hot dogs and burgers on the back patio. Summer … when the days are sunnier and hotter, the evenings longer and lazier, and the weekends much more fun.

However, all this time spent outdoors also motivates me to start (or usually finish!) all those outdoor projects that have been on our “to-do” list since we moved into our house three years ago.

Does this sound familiar? If you’ve been thinking about changing your outdoor living space, then check out “Enhancing Your Outdoors: The Roadmap to Improving Your Outdoor Environment” and “Bring the Indoors Out.” Are you looking for easy and affordable ways to dress up your current landscape? Then be sure to read “The Green Thumb: Container Gardens.”

Maybe you’re getting tired of the summer heat and you’re sitting in the living room with the air conditioning running at full blast. But you’ve noticed the walls around you are looking a little drab – feeling a little inspired to make a change? There’s no need to break the bank … “Makeover a Room Using Wallpaper, Window Treatments, and Mirrors” provides simple and affordable ideas to spruce up your décor.
Now that you’ve perfected your outdoor living environment and added a little life to your indoors, it’s time to relax and enjoy all the summer has to offer. This issue’s “Out & About” provides some fun and exciting suggestions for you and your loved ones to experience this summer.
If you need some outside help with any of your home’s enhancements, indoors and out, or you need a new dentist or doctor, or you wanting a new summer hairdo, our advertisers are here to help. For a quick reference, we’ve provided an Advertiser Index, conveniently located on page 71.

As always, the staff of Heritage Magazine thanks you for reading our publication. We hope that we have provided valuable information to help make your home and lifestyle that much better this summer. See you in fall!
